Most Beautiful Beaches Of The Northeast
The America’s are known for their strikingly beautiful shoreline. The Pacific coast offers a range from the California hype to the rough beauty of the Pacific Northwest. The United States Northeast however, is something spectacular. On a remote beach on the Maine shoreline in 2007, a storm compressed the geological layers and I was lucky enough to happen upon that beach the next morning. Rivers of red sand ran from the rocks, across to the beach, and into the water. I happened upon a geologist. He informed me that this ‘red sand’ was in fact garnet that had been crushed between the layers of the earth in the storm.
A day at the beach in the Northeastern United States is best spent exploring the less populated areas. The richness of the area offers surprises at the most unlikely places, in the most unlikely ways. Facing a desolate beach, imagining the life of a person in the same place long ago, a person can lose oneself in the timelessness of it all. The remote shorelines offer a retreat from the hustle of the cities, a place to self reflect upon the mystery of the land, the history, and to find a magical place: both inside of one’s self and out.
